Acoustic Folk Art 4, Track 2, 04:50
The Moment
Yesterday’s a photograph
Colors that are fading fast
Memories like watercolor in the rain
Tomorrow just an empty page
Though the best of plans are laid
They often turn out not to be
A window darkly stained
Through which we see
All that’s left is the moment
Passing like the morning dew
All that’s left is the moment
Can I spend it with you
Can I spend it with you
I remember friends
Who have moved on
Tender like a gentle song
Who smiled Jesus’ love to me
And squeezed my heart
Scattered ‘cross the nations
Members of the band
Light upon the hilltop
Salt upon the land
And I miss them
All that’s left is the moment
Passing like the morning dew
All that’s left is the moment
Can I spend it with you
Can I spend it with you
<harmonica break>
Yellow flowers through the snow
Every year you know they grow
Fade and die you see
Just like you and me
And everything you’ve worked
So hard to earn
One day all those things
Are going to burn
Only what you give away
Forever will be yours
Forever will be yours
All that’s left is the moment
Passing like the morning dew
All that’s left is the moment
Can I spend it with you
Can I spend it with you

Song Notes
Another in the moment song which seems to be a recurring theme in my music. Yellow flowers show up sometimes through a late snow in Missouri. I remember my grandmother used to have them in her yard. My Mom plants them everywhere and I think of Mom's yard when I think about spring because every year those flowers keep coming back.
