 Acoustic Folk Art 1, Track 3, 03:47
Transcendence

Critics come to criticize
Through their sunglass darkened eyes
But truth has never been ethereal
Comics come to cut and slice
As though they were someone wise
There’s no shortage of material

And I will walk on this treadmill
One step at a time
Sometimes standing tall
And sometimes falling off the line
You may say that I’m a sinner
Who does not believe in fate
You may think I’m just a spinner
And file your complaint
Though I crash and though I climb
By the grace of God I'll find
Transcendence through
The circumstance of time

Transcendence through
The circumstance of time

Painters come to paint
With colors blue and green
But art should never be
Seen as a ritual
Dreamers come to dream
Of what is yet unseen
Hearts that still hunger
For the spiritual

And I will walk on this treadmill
One step at a time
Sometimes standing tall
And sometimes falling off the line
You may say that I’m a sinner
Who does not believe in fate
You may think I’m just a spinner
And file your complaint
Though I crash and though I climb
By the grace of God I'll find
Transcendence through
The circumstance of time

Transcendence through
The circumstance of time

But hope that is seen is no hope at all
A stone that makes men stumble
And a rock that makes them fall
But hope that is seen is no hope at all
A stone that makes men stumble
And a rock that makes them fall

<harmonica break>

And I will walk on this treadmill
One step at a time
Sometimes standing tall
And sometimes falling off the line
You may say that I’m a sinner
Who does not believe in fate
You may think I’m just a spinner
And file your complaint
Though I crash and though I climb
By the grace of God I'll find
Transcendence through
The circumstance of time

Transcendence through
The circumstance of time

But hope that is seen is no hope at all
A stone that makes men stumble
And a rock that makes them fall
Song Notes

This song was inspired by the book of Romans, mainly chapters 5 – 9, from The Holy Bible. The bridge lyrics are from Romans 8:24 and 9:33.  The message of hope and non-violent perseverance reminds me of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr's tenure and legacy.
